I dont see Engineers and Computer Science geeks hurting for work nor do I see Dr’s lawyers Nurses etc hurting for work. To be honest there is a huge shortage of talent in the IT industry and in the medical world. Brainwashing can only occur in those that are already weak minded, lacking drive and determination in life and can not envision anything larger then themselves. College can be useful tool if properly utilized. Americans are just lazy they think DEGREE=GOOD JOB.you must work for it and go into a field of study that can translate on over to a job that is needed in society, (IT, ENGINEERING, etc.) We americans just expect everything to be handed to us. So you might want to rethink your video.
Your video title is misleading…. you are implying that the ducational system as a whole can do no good and is merely a means for brainwashing the masses and stealing thier money. True the costs of school is staggering and is is need of reform. But that is just a reflection of our monetary system and the corrupt nature of those in power manipulating a system to gain financial success. And true much of the public school system is just a ways to prepare our youth for the workforce…but.

If you’re smart and take the right program, you will succeed. If not, and get in to arts, psychology, business, marketing and other USELESS programs then you are doomed to fail with a $100K debt to start life. I took a 1 year program for information architecture on the web and self educated myself on user experience and user interface design. I now make great money and planning on opening my own business soon with only $14k of student loans. Good luck everyone!
There is something missing in your video and that is “what type of education people are getting”. Remember 90% of classes in universities and colleges are completely USELESS. The real value of a program can be drilled down to only a few classes. And that is for the big programs like psychology or fine arts (anyone in psychology needs spiritual and mental help after this program). Program like construction and web are great, short and there are jobs after. I have the experience to prove that.
The student loan scam is also a key part of the plan that will ultimately lead all Americans blind and broke in to the golden age of global fascism.

I thought Hughes provided a nice illustration to the point you were making, unwittingly on his part of course. He is an example of an educated idiot (rote memorization & mindless recall) who can provide definitions and text book theory but lacks the true insight to properly apply that information to the real world. His depiction of ‘brainwashing’ seems based on Hollywood movies and outdated 1950′s Govt propaganda. As if psychological warfare is still in that crude stage and was never refined.

College is no doubt a manufacturing line. I was going to school, then I realized the majority of my teachers said they were teaching b/c they couldn’t find jobs in their respective fields. The % of IDIOTS in all of my classes made me realize just how screwed I was for buying into the higher education system myself. College bubble is going to EXPLODE – SOON. It’s an expensive extension of public school and is nothing but a racket for the govt loan system, state owned schools and the banks.
